VANCOUVER, June 9 - Quantum computer developer D-Wave Systems Inc. announced it has completed financing led by U.S. venture-capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson, as well as two Canadian venture capital firms, GrowthWorks Capital and the Business Development Bank of Canada. Several Vancouver-based angel investors completed the round. D-Wave's initial business focus is the development of hardware for chip-based quantum computers. Quantum computers are projected to be able to exactly mimic the behaviour of any atomic or molecule-sized system, making them ideal engineering tools for the development of products that include very small parts, such as drug molecules and new designer materials.
